Methodology

TL;DR: Every review on Implai comes from hands-on use of the tool on real SEO and content work — minimum 20 hours before we publish. Scores break down into five published criteria, averaged into the Implai Score. We re-test tools after major releases and date every retest. No tool can pay for a score.

1. What “tested” means here

  • Minimum hands-on time before publishing: 20 hours on a real task from our own work — not demo data.
  • Which plan we test on: whichever plan a typical target user would actually pay for — usually the mid-tier paid plan, since that’s what most real buyers choose. If a vendor grants complimentary access for testing, we disclose that in the review.
  • What we record during testing: outputs, failures, time-to-result, workarounds needed.
  • What we don’t do: spec-sheet rewrites, vendor-brief paraphrases, AI-generated review text.

2. The Implai Score

Five criteria, each scored 0–10 in every review:

  1. Output Quality — the accuracy, usefulness, and polish of what the tool actually produces on a real task, not a demo.
  2. Ease of Use — how long it takes a competent user to get a good first result, and how steep the learning curve is after that.
  3. Value for Money — output quality and volume per dollar, compared to realistic alternatives at the same price point.
  4. Integration — API access, export options, and how well it fits into an existing SEO/content stack.
  5. Docs & Support — documentation quality and how fast support actually responds when something breaks.

Implai Score = arithmetic mean, rounded to 0.1. No hidden weighting. If weighting is ever introduced, the weights will be published here first.

What scores mean: 9+ exceptional · 8–8.9 recommended · 6.5–7.9 solid with caveats · below 6.5 look elsewhere.

Complexity tags (Basic / Intermediate / Pro) answer a different question — who can use it — and are assigned editorially, independent of the score.

3. Retests

  • AI tools change monthly; a dated score is a claim about a moment in time.
  • Every review carries a Tested/Retested changelog with dates.
  • Retest triggers: a major version release, a pricing change, or 3 months since the last test — whichever comes first.
  • Every retest changes a score, a note, or explicitly states “no change” — dates never move without substance.

4. How we make money (and what it doesn’t buy)

  • No paid reviews. No score-for-placement. If a “Featured” slot is ever sponsored, it is labeled Sponsored.

5. Why there are no user reviews here

Unverified crowd ratings are noise — we’d rather publish 50 tested reviews than 5,000 unverified opinions.

If we got something wrong, email hello@implai.digital — factual corrections get a dated update in the changelog.

6. Who runs Implai

Implai is an independent editorial project run by a small team of SEO and content practitioners who use these tools in real client and in-house work every week. We don’t have an office or a big masthead — just a testing process and a public track record. Get in touch.

Frequently asked questions

01

Can vendors pay for a review?

No. Every review is scored before we consider whether the tool has any commercial relationship with us, and that relationship never changes the score.

02

How often are tools re-tested?

After a major version release, a pricing change, or automatically after 3 months since the last test — whichever comes first.

03

Why don't you score every AI tool?

We only publish a score once we've put in the minimum 20 hours of hands-on testing. If a tool isn't reviewed yet, it's because we haven't finished testing it — not a judgment call.

04

Do you accept review requests?

Yes — email hello@implai.digital or use the request link on the Reviews directory. We can't guarantee we'll get to every request, but we read all of them.
